Erin is the Academic Support Specialist for the junior and senior academies.  She has been teaching at Mt. Scott Learning Centers since 2008.  Previously, her work as the Title I literacy teacher focused on increasing students’ reading skills while motivating all readers to adopting effective and life-long reading practices.  As the Academic Support Specialist, Erin works with staff and students to integrate best teaching and literacy practices across the content areas.

Erin holds a Master’s in Education with endorsements in Language Arts, Reading, and English to Speakers of Other Languages.  She has taught English literature and subjects to diverse students in a variety of settings for the past 11 years.  She has extensive experience developing curriculum, methods, and materials for use in teaching developmental and critical literacy to students with unique learning challenges.   She believes strongly that independent schools, collaborative learning environments and inspired teaching practices produce the most effective students and motivate the most powerful learning communities.

In addition to her professional passions, Erin loves to cook, exercise, garden, hike, and travel.  She is currently engrossed in raising two young boys and six chickens.
