Staff - High School
contact: jorzali@mtscottlearningcenters.org Joe has a strong interest in involving students in their communities and has developed partnerships with local organizations such as Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), Soltrekker, Free Geek, and Groundwork Portland. These partnerships provide Mt. Scott students with hands-on learning opportunities around many sustainability topics, especially renewable energy. Joe employs a topic-based teaching style in the Science classroom and often incorporates multiple disciplines into each unit. Joe began his teaching career as a science teacher and counselor at a special needs high school in Cambridge, Massachusetts and has been working with teens for more than eight years. He has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Thomas Moore College in Kentucky, and a Master's Degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management from Harvard University. When Joe isn’t teaching he enjoys camping and hiking with his dog, basketball, soccer, biking, collecting music and attending concerts.
