Sara Booth joins the Mt. Scott team this year as interim counselor at the high school. She graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and has a passion for working with youth at risk and their families in school-based settings.

Sara has worked in many different settings serving marginalized populations using evidence-based, holistic and experiential approaches. She received her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Denver with a specialization in providing best practices to youth at risk. Her commitment to social justice, combined with her knowledge and experience working with youth and families through a culturally sensitive lens, makes her excellent fit for Mt. Scott.

Sara’s broad range of counseling experience includes providing intensive services to youth at risk in day treatment centers, alternative schools, public schools, mental health centers, and in the community. She is experienced in individual, family and animal assisted therapy. She is a strong advocate of the educational and emotional components of youth and finding a balance with each youth’s life through unique and personalized services.

Sara enjoys sports and has finished a handful of triathlons and marathons. On weekends, she can be found camping, playing basketball, dancing, or hanging out anywhere there is water.
